Controller | San Francisco| Hybrid; 1-2 day in office

Step into a high-impact leadership role with a leading outsourced finance partner serving hedge funds. You’ll work directly with fund principals as a trusted advisor , helping strengthen infrastructure, support growth, and navigate complex financial operations.

Lead a strong internal team, own key client relationships, and gain broad exposure across fund accounting, operations, and strategy . The firm offers a flexible hybrid schedule with just 1 day in-office, generous PTO , and a culture built around trust, autonomy, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead hedge fund client engagements and mentor accounting staff
• Oversee shadow books, NAVs, financials, valuations, audits, and tax coordination
• Serve as a key contact for investor relations and operational due diligence
• Review monthly closes, expense reporting, transparency reports, and investor statements
• Oversee capital activity, distributions, budgeting, and management company finances
• Supervise portfolio reconciliations and relationships with prime brokers and custodians
• Support fund launches, vendor selection, and strategic initiatives
• Partner with compliance, legal, tax, and operations teams
• Lead regulatory reporting and high-level special projects

• 10–15+ years of financial services experience with deep hedge fund experience
• Strong background in both fund accounting and operations
• Proven leadership experience managing multiple clients and deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting preferred, CPA is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communicator who thrives in an entrepreneurial, team-oriented environment
